Mr. Wahid Omar spokesperson for Mr. Hamid Karzai’s Campaign Headquarters, today, Thursday July 30, has claimed in a press conference that supposedly the Campaign Manager of Dr. Abdullah has said “if Hamid Karzai is the winner in the elections, we will consider it a fraud and will take to public demonstrations.”
The Press Office of Dr. Abdullah’s Campaign Headquarters said these words (by Mr. Karzai’s Headquarters) are total lies and it considers them to have been spoken to confuse the public.
Dr. Abdullah and his team consider stability and calm as basic priority of the country and do not count anything else above it. On the contrary, they are worried about some suspicious acts of possibly disturbing the peace and disrupting the elections process.
Dr. Abdullah enjoys the support of the common people of Afghanistan, praises their political awareness, is sure of the correct national and international oversight of the elections process, and hopes that this oversight can prevent deliberate fraud in the elections.
People’s general support and reception of Dr. Abdullah’s candidacy have caused confusion and fear in Mr. Karzai’s team, and possibly there is an effort to rely on weak documentation and untrue reporting and to confuse public opinion.
The Press Office of Dr. Abdullah’s Campaign Headquarters recommends to all respected candidates including Mr. Karzai to respect the rules of the democratic process, and avoid creating disregard and worry in the public opinion.
