We will not make deals on your votes for positions

Tuesday, 1st September

With every day the anger, hatred and frustration of the people increases because of the organized electoral frauds and the illegal actions of the government. Since the beginning of the intentional and massive frauds by Karzai's appointees, people are convinced now that everyone should stand up and defend with seriousness their civil and legal rights. For this purpose, supporters of Dr. Abdullah from different areas, especially the southern regions, where most of the ballot stuffing has happened, have arrived to meet Dr Abdullah and have asked him to defend their rights. In continuation of these visits, on Tuesday residents of the city of Kandahar , including elders, the youth, representatives of the people, and tribal leaders asked Dr Abdullah during a meeting to continue to defend the votes of the people to the last breath.

In this gathering representatives of other provinces, such as Logar, Zabul, Wardak, and Helmand spoke and mentioned massive frauds of which they were a witness. They said that from the most insecure regions where nobody has been able to go, and where elections have not taken place at all, ballot boxes stuffed with votes for Karzai have returned.

Ms. Malalai Ishaqzai, representative of Kandar in Parliament said: "In Kandahar the team of Ahmad Wali Karzar has been involved in massive electoral frauds and they have committed the biggest treacheries against the people." She said to the participants: "The people of Afghanistan should not waste their time with submitting complaints to the Electoral Complaints Commission and such other organizations. These organizations are not independent at all." She emphasized: "We should directly convey our voices to President Obama of the America so that he, with a realistic attitude would restore the rights of the people back to them.

At the end of the meeting, Dr Abdullah, while appreciating the perseverance and support by the people of his national programs, said: "The nation has made its last efforts for bringing a positive change. The passionate support of the people of Kandahar is a unforgettable memory. In the same way that we enjoyed the spontaneous support of the people in all provinces and in the same way that they helped us and proved this by going to vote at the ballot boxes, in the same way I promise to continue to be with the people to the last minute and to defend their votes. My decision is the decision of the people. Whatever the people decide we will value that and we know that the people do not want anything but security, peace and prosperity. The people want the establishment of a fair, accountable government which should serve the people." Dr. Abdullah once again emphasized that: "We will defend your votes and your trust in us and shall not in any way make deals for positions or offices."
